Giving Khadi a global identity

Indian cricketer and youth icon Navdeep Saini launched the Khadi x Luxury campaign by modelling in the exclusive Khadi outfits designed by notable fashion designer Manish Tripathi’s. The idea was a brainchild of Philanthropist & entrepreneur Piyush Sachdeva of the WSF & HTS Group.

Indian Cricketer, Navdeep Saini, said, “I have been playing cricket and serving my country, this opportunity enabled me to serve India by promoting its handmade textiles.”

“India has a rich legacy of Khadi and handloom and even before India’s independence, Mahatma Gandhi advocated the use of Swadeshi products. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi gave the mantra of ‘Khadi for Nation, Khadi for fashion’ and this endeavor aims to promote the Khadi industry. Navdeep, a young cricketer being keenly watched by the country is an ambassador for the youth who can inspire his fans across the globe to wear Khadi and in turn generate livelihood for the artisans.” added Piyush.

About the campaign

“The word Khadi conjures Indian sentiments that connect us with our roots. Khadi owes its revival to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi who saw its potential as a tool to being self-reliant, independent and bringing villages back to life. We wanted to encourage the use of Khadi as a fashion product by tying an inter relatedness with luxury. Piyush’s introduced Navdeep as the ambassador and the rest is history. We have done an exclusive equestrian & conventional themed photoshoot with Navdeep which will surely resonate with the youth and reinvent Khadi while keeping its historicity intact!” said Manish.
