The Goal of the Project is to implement a process of electrifying Government Schools, Colleges and Community Specific Institutions through effective use of Solar Energy. The project has derived its inspiration from the innovative schemes under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy popularly known as – “Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyaan (PM KUSUM)”
India is third largest producer and second largest consumer of electricity in the world. However energy equity is still a distant dream in rural India. The share of households in India with access to electricity rose from 44 % in 2001 to 96 % in 2020, yet only 56.45 % of Government Schools have electricity reveals a report by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Human Resource Development for 2020-2021. This implies that close to half of the students in India still read in the dark in the era of digital and smart education. The Government Schools/Government Colleges as well as Community Based Institutions such as Anganwadis, Panchayat Bhawan have witnessed incessant power cuts leading to shortage of water and difficulty in functioning. During the last few years the attendance rate of Govt Schools, Anganwadis in India have indicated a declines and the drop our rate has been in the rise. The lack of Power Back up in Panchayat Bhawans has severely impacted the efficiency of the Panchayat leading to loss in efficiency, delay in public works etc.
